Abstract
The formic acid analogue of thyroxine, tetraiodothyroformic acid, was found to have 0.086% the goiter inhibiting activity of l -thyroxine in the thiouracil-cholesterol-fed rat. With regard to oxygen consumption its activity was 0.084% that of l -thyroxine. In amounts having equal effect on thyroid weight and oxygen consumption, tetraiodothyroformic acid resulted in significantly lower mean liver cholesterol.
