Abstract
The two independent molecules in the asymmetric unit of 4-{6-chloro-3-(4-chlorobenzyl)imidazo[4,5-b]-pyridin-2-yl}-3,3-dimethylbutanoic acid have similar geometries except for their dimethylbutanoic acid groups. The imidazopyridine group and the phenyl ring least-square planes make a dihedral angle of 102,34 (9) o in molecule (1) and 117.04 (8) o in molecule (2). The carboxylic group of (2) occupies two positions with equal occupancy factors. The C(17)-C(18) bond (C β -C γ ) of the butanoic acid chain is slightly longer than usual as a result of steric hindrance. Two O-H...N hydrogen bonds take part in the cohesion of the structure
