Abstract
AbstractThe inhibitive action of dibenzylsulphoxideand dibenzylsulphide on iron in 1 N-HCl has been studied. Anodic and cathodic polarisation curves have been obtained through a stepwisemethod. Adsorption of the inhibitors at the electrode has been measured, as a function of the time and the potential, by using 35S-labelledsubstances. The dibenzylsulphidewas shown to be preferentially adsorbed in comparison with dibenzylsulphoxide, reaching a saturation condition. The inhibitor efficiencyof dibenzylsulphide is higher than that of dibenzylsulphoxide. A comparison of results supports the hypothesis that dibenzylsulphoxideacts as a secondary inhibitor.
