Abstract
Objective: To compare antibacterial activities of the cefbuperazone and other eight antibacterials against ESBLs-producing Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae in vitro. Methods: Minimal inhibitory concentrations(MICs) were determined by agar dilution method. Results: ESBLs-producing Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae showed the highest susceptibility to imipenem and cilastatin(100% and 96.7%),meropenem(100% and 96.7%);and also showed good susceptibility to cefbuperazone(98.3% and 93.3%),cefmetazole(93.0% and 96.7%) and amikacin(95.7% and 96.7%);they were sensitive to piperacillin/tazobactam(92.1% and 60.0%) and ceftazidime(62.6% and 73.3%),but showed high resistant to cefotaxime(3.5% and 0) and cefoperazone/sulbactam(43.5% and 36.7%).Conclusion: Cefbuperazone showed high antibacterial activity against ESBLsproducing Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae in vitro.
