Abstract
Summary 3-Hydroxypyridine-2-carboxaldehyde thiosemicarbazone (3-HP) has been shown to be active against leukemia L1210, Ehrlich ascites carcinoma, lymphoma L5178Y, the Lewis lung carcinoma, and adenocarcinoma 755. 3-HP is active, in some instances, by gavage and also by delayed treatment. 3-HP is a member of a broad class of α-( N )-heterocyclic carboxaldehyde thiosemicarbazones, several of which have demonstrable carcinostatic activity. The active compounds share several electronic, structural, and reactive features in common. They all contain the N*—N*—S* tridentate ligand system.
