Abstract
Central to TA is the notion that every person has three identifiable parts (ego states) to his personality: a Parent, an Adult, and a Child. An ego state is simply a characteristic set of related attitudes and behaviours that are readily recognised by ourselves and others in the things we say and in the manner (viz. tone of voice, body gestures and postures) in which they are said. An individual's personality can be diagrammatically represented as in Figure I below.
