Abstract
Abstract Tricyclohexyltin hydroxide (cyhexatin) is widely used as an acaricide both on fruit plants and on vegetables. Only a few methods are available for analyzing this compound; whether calorimetric or spectrometnc, these methods are based on the quantification of Sn, but they are lengthy, cumbersome, and sometimes seriously affected by interferences. A study was thus undertaken on the application of electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry with Zeeman background correction to Sn analysis. Two simple methods of sample preparation for the analysis of total and organic Sn are also proposed. Preliminary experiments showed that both pyrolytic tubes with L′vov platform and Ti-coated tubes performed well. Adequate matrix modifier together with the Zeeman background correction allowed interferences in the analysis to be easily overcome. The validity of the proposed method is verified by the sensitivity, detection power, and reproducibility of figures afforded by each type of tube used.
