Abstract
Abstract Hybrid sol–gel coatings were prepared from 3-(trimethoxysilyl) propyl methacrylate (MeSi) and bis [2-(methacryloyloxy) ethyl] phosphate (MePO) via sol–gel process with different molar ratios of precursors to investigate the influence of phosphate content on the structure and anticorrosion properties of sol–gel coatings. Following scanning electron microscopy (SEM) on the surface and the cross-sectional view of obtained coatings, an analysis by Electron Probe Microanalysis (EPMA) for Fe, Si, and P was also performed to observe their dispersion within coatings. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and solid-state 29 Si and 31 P nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) were used to study condensation and polymerization properties of hybrid network. Anticorrosion performance of coated samples was investigated using open circuit potential (OCP) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques.
