Abstract
Since the 1960’s we have been studying techniques for immobilization of enzymes and cells; and we have succeeded in the industrial application of immobilized enzymes for the continuous optical resolution of DL-amino acids and immobilized microbial cell systems for the productions of L-aspartic acid and L-malic acid. On the basis of this background, we have expanded the immobilization techniques to include separations, purifications, and the recovery of proteins.
