Abstract
Abstract 2-Methyl-1-phenyl-1,2-dihydro-3,6-pyridinedione (Ia) reacts with trialkyl phosphites (111) in the absence of solvent to give compounds 1Va.b. 1-Phenyl-1,2-dihydro-3,6-pyridazinedione (Ib) reacts with 111 in the abscence of solvent whereby alkylation products VI1a.b are formed. Alkylation products Ma,b and Xa-c are similarly formed upon reacting 2,3-dihydro-1,4-phthalazinediones IIa.b with the same phosphite ester under the same experimental conditions.
