Abstract
Abstract A method formerly described for the determination of l -alanyl-peptide hydrolase (AAP) in serum has been developed for the estimation of this enzyme in urine. l -Alanine-(3-naphthylamide serves as the substrate. The preparation of urine, the basis of reference, the optimal collection period and collection time are investigated. In healthy persons the excretion of l -alanylpeptide hydrolase is subject to circadian variations. Furthermore, it depends on age. In the group of 18–30 years there is a sex difference.
