Abstract
Phenylbutazone (Butazolidin) has three principal activities in man: it is a potent antirheumatic agent, causes marked retention of sodium, and possesses mild uricosuric properties.' , 2 Studies have been carried out both with metabolites of phenylbutazone and with various analogues of the drug in an attempt to find drugs of the phenylbutazone type with more potent properties useful for the treatment of various arthritic diseases.
