Abstract
Biphenyl-2-methanol, C 13 H 12 O, crystallizes in the non-centrosymmetric monoclinic space group Pc with four molecules in the asymmetric unit. However, the four independent molecules fall into two pairs related by pseudo centres. The dihedral angle between the phenyl rings in each molecule is 53.3 (1), 58.9 (1), 52.6 (1) and 59.6(1)°; the dihedral angle between the methanol and phenyl group is 45.2 (1), 42.2 (1), 54.9 (1) and 45.4 (1)°, respectively.
