Abstract
Indole‐5‐carboxylic acid trimer, a major product formed during the electro‐polymerization of indole‐5 carboxylic acid, was characterized by 1H NMR spectros‐copy, and a wide range of one‐ and two‐dimensional NMR techniques were employed to allow full analysis of the 1H spectrum. Homonuclear NOE experiments were carried out in different solvents and at different temperatures, owing to the unusual observation of negative enhancements in some experiments. This was shown to be due to the slow tumbling rate of the molecule.
