Abstract
Publisher Summary This chapter reviews the chemistry of pyrido[2,1-c]-1,4-oxazines; pyrido[2,1-c]-l,4-thiazines; pyrido[1,2-a]-pyrazines; and their benzologues. The physicochemical and spectroscopic properties, reactions, syntheses, and utilization of the ring systems are discussed in the chapter. The thermodynamic aspects, theoretical calculations, and spectrophotometric methods used in the synthesis of pyrido[2,1-c]-1,4 oxazines and their benzo derivatives are discussed in the chapter. However, the synthesis of pyrido[2,1-c]-1,4 thiazines and their benzo derivatives uses thermodynamic aspects, theoretical calculations, chromatographic investigations, spectrophotometric methods, and X-ray investigations. In addition, the synthesis of pyrido[1,2-a] pyrazines and their benzo derivatives is done by formation of one bond of α, β, and γ to the bridgehead nitrogen atom, formation of two bonds from atom fragments, and ring transformations. The applications of these compounds are also provided in the chapter. Pyrido[2,1-c]-1,4-oxazines and their benzo derivatives are claimed to treat mycoplasma1 pneumonia in pigs and are used in a synergistic fungicide composition. Pyrido[2,1-c]-1,4-thiazines and their benzo derivatives are investigated in the chapter as gastric prokinetic agents and patented as a direct-positive color photographic material. Pyrido[1,2-a] pyrazines and their benzo derivatives are widely used in human and veterinary therapy.
