Abstract
Objective To investigate the efficacy and safety of chloroprocaine hydrochloride in epidural anesthesia for transurethral resection of the prostate in the aged. Methods 60 patients with ASA gradeⅠ~Ⅱand aged 60~75 were divided randomly into a test group(n=30)for 3% chlorprocaine and a control group(n=30)for 2%lidocaine.5min after 3mL anesthetic test volume into epidural space(L3~4),a bolus of 10mL anesthetic was given to each patient. The vital signs and the efficacy of each drug(onset time of pain free and motor free, duration time, onset time of pain recovery and motor recovery, blockage level and the pain degree at 5min after pain recovery)were recorded. Results The onset time of epidural blockade, pain free and motor free in test group was shorter than in control group. The onset time of pain recovery was similar in both groups. The onset time of motor recovery in test group was significantly faster than in control group. There was no difference in anesthetic blockage level and duration time. The pain degree in test group at 5min after pain recovery was significantly bigger than in control group(P0.05).The changes in respiration and circulation were similar in both groups. The side effects were not observed in both groups. Conclusion The domestic chloroprocaine hydrochloride in epidural anesthesia for the transurethral resection of the prostate in the aged is faster in onset, well in sensory and motor blockade and has no side effects.
