Abstract
Sandrine Silvente-Poirot is researcher at the National Center of Scientific Research (CNRS) and detached to the National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM) in France. She is co-head of the team ‘Sterol metabolism and therapeutic innovations in oncology’, UMR1037 in Toulouse, France. She has a PhD in Molecular Pharmacology obtained in 1993 at the University Paul Sabatier of Toulouse (Toulouse III) in France. She was a visiting fellow from 1993 to 1996 at the National Institute of Health (NIDDK/NIH, Bethesda, USA) in Dr Steve Wank’s laboratory, where she carried out structure/function/pharmacology studies on G protein-coupled receptors. She is cofounder of the company Affichem that has developed several of her patents and in particular the discovery of new oxysterols. Her research interest focuses on oncology and pharmacology: studies on novel targets for cancer therapy and the development of novel anticancer molecules, biomarkers and probes for nuclear imaging. She is competent in pharmacology, biochemistry, metabolism and experimental oncology.
