Abstract
Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy and safety of Seroquel in the treatment of schizophrenia.Methods It was a twelve-week randomized comparison of Seroquel versus Chlorpromazine in 85 inpatients.Clinical efficacy was determined by using BPRS.The adverse events were assessed with the treatment emergent symptom Scale(TESS).Results In both groups,there were significant differences in the scores of BPRS at the end of 1,2,4,8,12 weeks and no siginificant differences were found in the efficacy of the both groups.Incidence was significantly lower in Seroquel group than in Chlorpromazine group.Conclusion It is suggested that Seroquel was effective and safe in the treatment of schizophrenia.
