Abstract
We have measured the heat capacity of 9-methylcarbazole at 4⩽ T /K⩽345 by adiabatic calorimetry and compared it with that measured by differential scanning calorimetry (d.s.c.) at 120⩽ T //K⩽355. The d.s.c. measurements were made by both a scanning method and by an enthalpic, or intermittent heating, method. The molar heat capacities C p , m determined by d.s.c. agreed with the values obtained by adiabatic calorimetry within the usual error associated with d.s.c., about 0.01 · C p , m . No anomalies or transitions were observed up to 350 K. Thermodynamic functions obtained from these values are tabulated at selected temperatures.
