Abstract
5-Dimethylaminonaphthalene-1-sulfonylchloride (dansyl-Cl) is now being increasingly used as a reagent in different fields of biological research. The usefulness of this reagent is primarily a result of the intense yellow and orange products it forms with peptides, imidazoles, phenolic compounds, and amino acids. Such derivatives are stable and can be readily separated by solvent extraction of chromatography.
