Abstract
The catalytic dehydrogenation of iminodibenzyl (IDB) to iminostilbene (IS) has been investigated over oxides-containing iron catalysts in the presence of steam. The reaction was performed at 500~600 ℃ and steam/iminodibenzyl ratios of 200~300 mol/mol. Under the conditions used selectivities to iminostilbene up to 94.9 at 90.4% iminodibenzyl conversion were achieved, much batter than those similar reports. The steam play an important role in the reaction, both heterogeneous (catalytic) and homogeneous (non-catalytic) contributed to the reaction. By characterizing the catalysts by the means of powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) and thermoanalytic measurements (TG-DAT), the process of the catalysts formation and the transformation of crystal configuration were discussed as well.
