Abstract
Abstract Copper can be determined gravimetrically as cuprous thiocyanatc employing ferrous ammonium sulphate to reduce the copper to the cuprous state. The effects of varying the standing time, thiocyanate concentration and acidity have been studied and optimum conditions established. When the amount of copper is unknown, the indicator properties of the ferrithiocyanate complex provide a useful means of estimating the correct amount of thiocyanate to add.
