Abstract
SINCE its original development for use as a water softener in the German textile industry1, the disodium salt of ‘Trilon B’ (ethylene-diamine tetraacetic acid) has been developed by Schwartzenbach and associates in the estimation of alkaline earths and other metals2. The application of this research to water hardness testing has been fully described in The Analyst3. The method has now been modified as described below.
