Abstract
A simplified determination of methabenzthiazuron in agricultural products by HPLC with a UV detector was investigated.Each agricultural product sample was homogenized and extracted with acetone. The crude extract was purified on a Bond Elut® Extraction Cartridge PSA using a mixture of acetone and n-hexane. Methabenzthiazuron was analyzed by HPLC with UV detection (275nm). The HPLC separation was performed on an ODS column with acetonitrile-water (1:1) as the mobile phase.Recoveries of methabenzthiazuron from several agricultural products fortified at the level of 0.1ppm were in the range of 93-104%. The limit of detection was 0.005ppm in samples.
