Abstract
Summary A flow-injection system for the determination of isocyanate moiety, as an example of organic functional groups, is described; infrared detection is used in the transmittance mode. Absorption is measured at 4.40 lim with carbon tetrachloride as the solvent and carrier stream. Injections (25µ) of 0.100–16.0 mM phenyl isocyanate solutions provide a useful calibration curve with a linear response up to about 1.5 mM. The detection limit for phenyl isocyanate at a signal-to-noise ratio of 2 is about 4 µg ml−1 in the sample injected.
