Abstract
The reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatographic method is used for the determination of pure 4-methylpyrocatechol.The conditions are as follows: a C18 column,the mobile phase V(Methanol)∶V(0.2% acetic acid) = 50∶50,4-methylpyrocatechol monitored at 282 nm by UV detector,the flow rate 0.8 mL/min,and the detection limit 0.04 μg/mL.A good liner correlation was found between the peak areas and the concentrations in the range of 0.1—100 μg/mL of 4-methoxyphenol(r=0.999 9).The ranges of the recovery of 4-methoxyphenol were 99.9%—100.2% with hydroquinone as internal standard.
