Abstract
Calcium propionate is one of the additives used frequently in food' s production.national standard to determine it is gas chromatography that has some shortcomings in practice,so the improvement is made.The test is:firstly transforming the calcium propionate in food to propionic acid with phosphoric acid,then distilling the propionic acid by boiled water and extracting it with ethyl acetate,finally analyzing the extracted liquid by INNOWAX capillary gas chromatography and FID.The detection limit was 0.02g/kg,the recovery for spiked standards was between 93.2%and 99.3%.
