Abstract
1,1-Difluoroethylene (75-38-7) is extremely flammable and explosive. It is used in the manufacture of polyvinylidene fluoride, which is used as a thermal, chemical, and ultraviolet light–resistant agent. It is used as an anticorrosive agent and as an insulator. The primary exposure route is inhalation. Its absorption is very rapid, but biotransformation is very slow. It is eliminated as fluoride ions in urine. It is carcinogenic in animals and may cause tumor in humans.
