Abstract
AIM: To observe the antifibrotic effect of diammonium glycyrrhizinate in patients with chronic hepatitis B infection. METHODS: Two hundred patients (M 135, F 65; age (37± s 21)a) were divided into A group (control group) forty five patients, B group (therapy group) one hundred and fifty five patients. Patients in A group were treated with potassium aspartate and magnesium aspartatse 20 mL for 14 wk. Diammonium glycyrrhizinate 300 mg in 5 % glucose injection 500 mL were given by iv, gtt, qd, for 6 wk and orally for 8 wk to patients in B group. The levels of serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT), hyaluronic acid (HA), procollagen type Ⅲ (PCⅢ) and the histological changes were investigated. RESULTS: Six weeks after therapy, the restoration rate of ALT to normal in B group was 74.2 % , it was significantly higher than that in A group ( 46 % ). At the end of therapy, histological assessment revealed a significant improvement in hepatic fibrosis, and the level of HA, PCⅢ were also decreased significantly. Discrimination between A and B group showed significant difference ( P 0.05 ). CONCLUSION: Diammonium glycyrrhizinate not only has good effect on hepatic function, but also it can improve the hepatic fibrosis.
