Abstract
VINCRISTINE sulphate is in use for the treatment of leukaemias and other malignant neoplasms. Histopathological, electrophysiological and clinical studies have shown that Vincristine has a neuropathic effect on the peripheral and cranial nerves (Helderbrand and Coers, 1965; McLeod and Penny, 1969; Bradley, 1970; Clarke et al, 1972; Goodman and Gilman, 1975). Very little work has been performed dealing with the effect of vincristine upon the organs of the special senses. The present work was therefore carried out to study the effect of this drug upon the neurological elements of the cochlea.
