Abstract
Abstract TETRAMISOLE is a potent, orally and parenterally effective broad spectrum anthelmintic. Studies in various species of domestic animals and in man have shown tetramisole to affect numerous species of roundworms (Thienpont et al., 1966). A single oral administration of 40 mg. tetramisole base per kg. body weight has a 96 to 100% effect against adult and immature forms of Capillaria obsignata (Madsen, 1945), Heterakis gallinarum (Schrank, 1788) and Ascaridia galli (Schrank, 1788). The present paper deals with the effect produced by a single or repeated administration of 40 mg. tetramisole base per kg. body weight, on growth rate and feed efficiency of healthy broilers, free from intestinal parasites. EXPERIMENTAL In a first experiment three hundred and twenty male broiler type chicks (Hybro) were used.
