Abstract
Fusarenon-X, a cytotoxic sesqui-terpene produced by a fungi Fusarium nivale, inhibits cell multiplication and syntheses of nucleic acid and protein in eukaryotes suchh as rabbit reticulocytes (Ueno et al., 1969b), mammalian cultured cells (Ohtsubo and Saito, 1970; Ueno et al., 1971a), and the protozoan Tetrahymena pyriformis (Ueno and Yamakawa, 1970). To find some other effects of f usarenon-X than those mentioned above, effects on lipid synthesis, phosphate uptake and oxygen consumption by Tetrahymena pyriformis were investigated.
