Abstract
The efficacy of fluroxypyr, a new herbicide was evaluated in irrigated wheat at two locations. Fluroxypyr was effective against Convolvulus arvensis, Vicia sativa, Rumex dentatus, Cichorium intybus, Argemone mexicana, Melihtus spp., Chenopodium album, Anagallis arvensis, Trifolium flagiferum, Portulaca oleracea and Ageratum conyzoides but did not control grassy weeds. The combined application of fluroxypyr with isoproturon controlled the broad leaf weeds and Phalaris minor. The perennial weeds were not controlled by any herbicide under test. However. Cyperus rotundus was reduced by fluroxypyr when opplied with 2, 4-D. The highest grain yield (3407 kg/ha) was obtained with isoproturon 1.0 kg/ha (post) at location-1 and isoproturon 1 kg/ha (pre) at location-II. Fluroxypyr at 0.3 and 0.4 kg/ha alone gave the yield at par with two hand weeding.
