Abstract
Objective:To observe the efficacy and safety of 0.1% Hexamidine anti-dandruff shampoo in patients with dandruff. Methods:We used a randomized,double-blinded experiment. All subjects were randomly applied two different shampoos on their left and right scalps respectively, with the control shampoo containing no Hexamidine. Experimental and control shampoos were compared by analyzing clinical assessment scores and malassezia load. Results:The 0.1% Hexamidine shampoo demonstrated superiority in both decreasing various clinical assessment scores and malassezia load compared to the controlled shampoo. Conclusion:0.1% Hexamidine shampoo has a good ability in reducing dandruff and relieving scalp itching as well as decreasing scalp malassezia load. 0.1% Hexamidine, which is safe and highly effective, can be considered as a novel alternative agent in anti-dandruff shampoos.
