Abstract
Abstract A series of 4-amino-3,5-di-t-butylbiphenyls with various substituents in the 4′-position have been synthesized and the primary step of their oxidation has been investigated by electroanalytical methods. Electron transfer leads to the corresponding radical cations and is reversible in acetonitrile. Formal potentials and Hammett substituent constants were correlated and the results are discussed in terms of thermodynamics and the reaction constant, ϱ
