Abstract
Benzotrifluoride is a useful alternative to chlorohydrocarbons or to difluorobenzene when a relatively noncoordinating solvent is desired for electrochemical studies of transition metal complexes. It is readily obtained at low cost and high purity and is miscible with both organic and fluorous solvents. Voltammetric and electrolytic experiments have been performed on several metallocenes at and below ambient temperatures.
