Abstract
Abstract Benzyl disulphide has been used as an ionophore and dimethylsebacate as a plasticizer in order to develop a poly(vinyl chloride)-based membrane electrode for lead ion detection. The electrode exhibits good properties with a Nernstian slope of 29.2±1.3 mV per decade and a linear range of 2×10 −5 –5×10 −2 M for Pb(NO 3 ) 2 . The response time of the electrode was 4 min and the detection limit 1×10 −5 M Pb 2+ . The selectivity of the sensor is comparable with those reported for other such electrodes.
