Abstract
In the preceding paper of this series (Gunsalus et al., 1953a) a procedure has been described for separating sonic extracts of mandelate grown cells of Psudomonas fluorescens into: (a) a coarse particle fraction, sedimentable by centrifugation at high speeds; (b) a fine partile fraction, separable from the resulting supernate by 0.3 saturation with ammonium sulfate; and (c) a 8oluble fraction, obtained from the supernate by precipitation by further addition of ammonium sulfate to 0.7 saturation after removal of the fine particle fraction. The present paper considers the enzymatic properties of the particulate fractions.
