Abstract
Abstract 3 — Hydroxy — 5 — (hydroxymethyl) — 2 — methylisonicotinaldoxime (pyridoxal oxime), 2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldoxime (orthovanillin oxime) and 4-hydroxy-5-methoxyisophthalic dioxime (vanillic dialdehyde dioxime), injected intraperitoneally in equitoxic (sublethal) doses, are excreted primarily by the urinary pathway. The substances are largely unchanged, though traces of the corresponding acids are found. Vanillic dialdehyde dioxime alone is transformed into the aldehyde (vanillic dialdehyde), which can be detected in the blood of experimental animals 3 hr after administering the dioxime. None of these oximes investigated, nor any of their metabolites (the corresponding acids) could be detected in the brain, heart, liver, spleen, kidneys or blood.
