Abstract
Abstract 1. 1. In 24 patients, most of them seriously ill, antazoline was efficacious against the majority of cardiac arrhythmias, regardless of their origin, except in cases of atrial flutter or chronic complete A-V block. 2. 2. The drug showed a particularly high degree of effectiveness against arrhythmias associated with digitalis intoxication. 3. 3. Theoretical and observed mechanisms of action have been noted in reference to effectiveness, or lack of it, against specific types of arrhythmias. 4. 4. Therapeutic indications, precautions and side effects, based on the observations in this series and related to earlier reports by other investigators, have been described.
