Abstract
The present study was designed to test adverse behavioral effects and side effects of a new antihistaminic drug, isothipendyl hydrochloride (Theruhistin), that has been reported clinically to minimize feelings of sedation and drowsiness common to antihistaminics. Clinical studies have already indicated reduced incidence of sedation from treatment with Theruhistin (Ayerst Laboratories ditto), as compared with other antihistaminics. The battery of objective behavioral tests used in this study allows for an objective and detailed check on the possible effects of the drug on a wide variety of behaviors—driving and psychomotor performance, perception, steadiness, attention, and tempo.
