Abstract
Abstract Mesityl oxide [(CH3)2C=CHCOCH3] was used for the solvent-extraction separation of some transition metals. It was found that iron(III) can also be quantitatively extracted from 3.25 to 5 M hydrochloric acid solution. The method is simple and rapid, and is applicable in presence of large number of ions at milligram level. It was applied for the separation of iron from alloy-steel.
