Abstract
The toxicities of binary mixtures of formanilides with 21 acaricides to Tetranychus Urticae Koch were investigated and compared to the toxicities of their individual components. All of the 23 formanilides examined exhibited synergism to some extent; the most active compounds included 2-bromoformanilide, 2-methylformanilide, 2-ethylformanilide, 2,3-dichloroformanilide, 4-chlpro-2-methylformanilide, 4-methoxy-2-methylformanilide, and 5-chloro-2,4-dimethoxyformanilide. Toxicity of the organophosphates methyl parathion and malathion, the pyrethroids fenpropathrin and deltamethrin, and the formamidine chlordimeform was enhanced to the greatest extent, whereas that of the oxime carbamates aldicarb and methomyl was enhanced least. Other compounds whose activity was enhanced by formanilides included endrin, cyhexatin, fenbutatin oxide, chloropropylate, tetradifon, and amitraz, along with other organophosphates and pyrethroids.
