Abstract
By bromination of 1-methyl-6-bromopyridone-2 in glacial acetic acid as solvent, 1-methyl-3, 5, 6-tribromopyridone-2 is formed, which melts at 151°. By the action of phosphorus pentabromide this substance is converted into 2, 3, 5, 6-tetrabromopyridine which indicates the position of the bromine atoms.
