Abstract
1) Methyl methanethiolsulfonate has been obtained from the reaction product of dimethyl sulfoxide with hydrogen chloride. Methyl methanethiolsulfonate has been found to have antifungal and antibacterial activities. 2) It has been suggested that methanesulfenyl chloride is formed from the diacid salt of DMSO and that it reacts with methanesulfinic acid to yield methyl methanethiolsulfonate.
