Abstract
The dynamics and interactions of the PO 3 2- group of 5’-CMP (cytidine 5’-monophosphate disodium salt) in 2H2O was studied[l] using the symmetric stretching mode of the phosphate group in 5’-CMP, ν s (PO 3 2- ). The aim of this paper is to investigate the molecular dynamics of the PO 3 2- group of 5’-CMP in H2O solutions. The difficulty in this case is the presence of a combination band in the low frequency wing of the infrared, IR, ν s (PO 3 2- ) band. This stretching band appears at ≈ 977 cm-1 in H2O. Band shape analysis of this profile at different concentrations of the nucleotide, 0.002–0.300 mol dm-3, would provide information on the relative contribution of reorientational and vibrational relaxation processes.
