Abstract
A composite multiwalled carbon nanotube polyvinyl chloride electrode based on 7,16-dibenzyl-1,4,10,13-tetraoxa-7,16-diazacyclooctadecane (DBDA18C6) as Sm3+ ionophore is reported. This potentiometric sensor showed a wide linear working range, 1×10−2–1×10−8 M, Nernstian slope, 20.2±0.48 mV per decade and a limit of detection, 6.3±0.36×10−9 M. It works in the pH range 2.5–8.5 and shows a good selectivity over a number of metal ions. It has been found suitable for the analysis of ores and industrial effluents. The electrode surface is characterized by FRA and AFM.
