Abstract
abstract High crystalline thin films of 5,6,11,12-tetraphenylnaphthacene (rubrene) can be obtainedafter in situ thermal post annealing using SiO 2 gate dielectric modified with a 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DPPC) monolayer obtained via Langmuir–Blodgett transfer. Such formed rubrene crystalline films are interconnected and highlyordered with defined molecular orientation. Organic thin film transistors (OTFTs) with highperformance are reproducibly demonstrated with the mobility of 0.98 cm 2 /V s, the thresh-old voltage of 8 V and the on–off current ratio of higher than 10 7 . The results indicate thatour approach is a promising one for preparing high quality rubrene crystalline films. 2013 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. 1. IntroductionOrganic thin film transistors (OTFTs) have been thefocus of intensive research in the last three decades dueto their potential applications in low cost and flexibleelectronics using a wide variety of different organic semi-conductor materials [1–5]. Among these materials, rubrene(C
