Abstract
Abstract The molar heat capacities of (1,3,5-triazine) and of (1,3,5-trioxane) were measured between 10 and 350 K. Derived thermodynamic functions are given. The molar enthalpies of fusion were found to be (14560±10) J·mol −1 and (15105±10) J·mol −1 , respectively. The corresponding melting temperatures are 353.44 K and 333.44 K. The transition in 1,3,5-triazine at 197.7 K is discussed. Assuming the phase transition to be of second order and using the heat capacities of 1,3,5-trioxane for calculating the base line, a value of 362.8 J·mol −1 for the molar enthalpy of transition was found.
