Abstract
A highly regio- and stereoselective osmium-catalyzed bromohydroxylation reaction of diisopropyl [2-(p-methoxyphenyl)ethylen-yl]phosphonate was achieved under acidic condition using N-bromoacetamide. Citric acid acted as both acidic additive and chelating agent in the reaction. The predominant C 1 bromination product implied a possiblepathway involved in the catalysis process.
